Blackjack
Blackjack brings to the table a thrill with each hand dealt. Splitting pairs and double-down features offer you more flexibility and add up to a great casino experience.
For many, casinos and card games go hand-in-hand. Blackjack, or ‘21’ as it is also commonly called, is one of the most well-known and popular card games. The classic game of Blackjack can trace its routes as far back as the 17th century. With the advent of the internet and gaming in general, modern Blackjack has evolved, offering fast-paced excitement and a variety of dynamic, new features that are certain to amplify your blackjack experience. The classic Blackjack still holds its place among the most prestigious of card games, with the online version mirroring the land based atmosphere to perfection. In some respects, such as convenience and personal preferences, the online gaming environment can elevate a player’s personal gaming entertainment enjoyment.
How to Play Blackjack
Blackjack is a fairly simple game, the goal of which is to beat the dealer while the total value of your cards does not exceed 21. If the total value of a player’s cards were to surpass 21, that player would go “bust”. Therefore, in order to beat the dealer, a player’s cards must remain under 21, but still have a higher value than the total value of the dealer’s cards. If the dealer goes bust, the player wins.
It’s quite straightforward and easy to play. To begin, players must place their bets by clicking on their preferred chip amount, followed by clicking on their place on the table in order to place the chips. Once you have placed your bets, you press the “Deal” button and the dealer pass you two cards, both face up. The dealer will also deal themselves two cards, one facing up and one facing down. Should a player’s first two cards total value equal 21, that would be a natural Blackjack and the player would win automatically. However, if the dealer also has 21, the game would become a ‘push’, which is somewhat similar to a draw, with the player’s bet being returned to them and the option of beginning a new game presented.
If a player is dealt cards which do not equal 21, they have two options, either “hit” or “stand”. If a player decides to “stand”, that means they are going to stay with the hand they have and will not be dealt further cards. If a player decides to “hit”, they will be dealt another card. Players can continue to hit until they either surpass 21 and go “bust”, thereby losing, or until they reach a total card value they are satisfied with. Once a player has achieved that card value, they should choose to “stand”. The dealer will then turn over his second card and the player’s total will be played against the dealer’s.
Features
The ingenuity of Playtech has given players a number of additional features to the classic Blackjack game to enjoy:
Splitting Pairs:
Should the first two cards that are dealt to a player be a matching pair (regardless of suit), the player has the option to split the pair and play them as two independent hands if they choose. The player must then be prepared to place an identical bet on the new, second hand identical to the bet that was placed on the original hand.
Doubling-Down:
An exciting option available to players, is the ability to “double-down” upon receiving the first two cards dealt to them. “Doubling-down” serves to double the original bet placed, however, once a player has “doubled-down”, they will only be able to receive one additional card from the dealer, after which they will have to “stick”. Should a player feel it is worth taking a chance by “doubling-down”, then it is advisable to double down to the highest amount possible. Due to the popularity of the “double-down” feature, Playtech’s Blackjack initiated this option so that players may “double-down” on a “split pair”.
